During my journey through France, I found a unique stay at Château Melay. Upon arrival, a warm welcome drink set a pleasant tone, though the absence of a reception did have us wandering for a brief moment. Once we connected with the owner, we were guided to our double room, which was spacious and clean. It’s worth noting that the decor needed some finishing touches that weren't clear from online photos. The property provided a relaxing atmosphere, enhanced by a lovely garden area and BBQ facilities—an unexpected delight. Hosting a South African BBQ was a lovely touch, reflecting the owner's willingness to accommodate diverse cultures. Dinner prepared by Thomas was a hit with the family, and breakfast was satisfactory. While our room had great potential, improved upkeep is necessary to elevate the overall experience. The owners did a commendable job offering tips on local attractions without overwhelming us. For those seeking a genuine chateau experience without the hefty price tag, Château Melay presents a good value proposition for a memorable stay amidst the serene French countryside. Definitely one to consider, especially for family-friendly adventures.
